Local MSP visits Scotland’s leading commercial laundry
Willie Rennie, MSP for North East Fife, visited Fishers, Scotland’s leading commercial laundry and textile rental company in Cupar on Monday 20th June. Mr Rennie was elected as MSP for North East Fife in May 2016 and is taking the opportunity to visit businesses in his constituency. He was previously MP for Dunfermline and West Fife and MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife.
During his visit he toured Fishers' head office facility, which has been in operation in Riggs Place, Cupar, since 1964. Mr Rennie met with Michael Jones, Managing Director, and Scott Inglis, Commercial Director, as well as a number of employees during his tour of the laundry. Fishers employs in excess of 850 employees during peak season, 200+ of whom are employed in Cupar.
The business, which was established in 1900, cleans, irons and delivers more than two million items a week for the hospitality and tourism industries. Fishers also provides workwear hire and cleanroom garment services to the hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors throughout Scotland and the North of England.
Michael Jones, Fishers’ Managing Director, said:
“It’s important that our elected representatives know what we do and we are grateful that Mr Rennie was able to dedicate the time to visit. It was a great opportunity to share our plans for the business and to understand his priorities and how we can work together to support the local community.”
Willie Rennie MSP said:
“For many years I have seen the iconic green and white vans throughout the constituency. As a significant employer in the local area, I was delighted to visit Fishers in Riggs Place and learn more about their business. I was impressed by Fishers' commitment to the local community and the key role they play within the hospitality and tourism industry throughout Scotland.”
